About Mondadori
The Mondadori Group is one of the top publishing companies in Europe. It is Italy’s biggest book and magazine publisher and the third largest in the consumer magazine segment in France. Mondadori’s activities also include advertising, digital, radio, retailing and direct marketing.
The Group is the absolute leader in Italy’s book, operating through some of the biggest Italian publishing houses (Edizioni Mondadori, Einaudi, Piemme, Sperling & Kupfer) and best-known book series. The book division is managed through two distinct areas: Trade publishing, which includes fiction and non-fiction, and Educational publishing, which groups all publications produced internally, including school textbooks and art and illustrated books.
In magazine, Mondadori publishes some of Italy’s most-read and well-known titles, including Panorama, the country’s first ever news weekly; Grazia, Italy’s first women’s magazine – now distributed internationally; some of the country’s top-selling titles such as Donna Moderna, Chi and TV Sorrisi e Canzoni. Mondadori France is the third-largest magazine publisher in the country with a portfolio of 27 titles, among which the weeklies Grazia and Closer. Mondadori also operates internationally thanks to a network of partners.
Mondadori Pubblicità manages advertising sales not only for all Group titles, Internet sites and its national radio network, R101, but also for the titles and websites of other important publishers and the national broadcaster Radio Kiss Kiss.
The activities of the digital area are focused on two main lines. Firstly the digital enhancement – through technology, web sites and new online platforms – of the publishing company’s principal assets (brands, content, authors, communities of readers, advertisers), in close collaboration with the traditional businesses. Secondly, the area is tasked with taking advantage of the development opportunities in the digital market and identifying all possible areas of growth for the company’s assets and revenues.
Mondadori entered the radio market in January 2005 with the acquisition of Radio 101 One-O-One, rebranded as R101. Following the acquisition, Mondadori has invested in revamping the music format and schedule, helping to make R101 among the most-listened radio stations in Italy.
The direct area deals with all activities involving a direct relationship with consumers, including more than 600 stores.
